Omni Analyzer

The Lazarus Board
The power light's on but nobody's home in your computer. Where do you start to diagnose a dead system?

Omni Analyzer, from TriniTech, is a $799 single 16-bit ISA card that will work in an 8- or 16-bit ISA slot or an EISA slot and diagnose a variety of problems. Omni's LEDs report on IRQ and DMA functions as well as the system's electrical power. A two-digit segmented LED provides alphanumeric clues as to what's going on in your computer during the power-up cycle. This lets you identify precisely where things go awry, even when the computer's display isn't working.

Anaylzer has on-board flash memory that contains ExpertCheck, a self-booting diagnostic program. After the power-on self-test, you can choose to run either the diagnostic utility or test the system normally. The flash memory makes updating the board from a floppy disk easy, and the fact that the program is on-board means that it can run on any system, regardless of the operating system.

You could buy a handful of separate diagnostic cards (and spend more money in the process), but they probably won't tell you anything that the Omni Analyzer kit can't find out just as easily. In case you ever have to bring a computer back from the dead, the kit will likely pay for itself on its first use.

"I heartily recommend the Omni Analyzer to anyone in a field service or production environment as a superior enhancement to their tool box"

We have used the TriniTech "Intelligent" PC Sentry Plus for over the 3 months with a variety of both simulated and real hardware problems on our servers and personal computers. We love it. It is now part of our toolbox and the first tool we use when we have hardware problems.

If you like to work on computers yourself, this card will make the difference between struggling for hours and finding the problem without hassle. If you are a computer technician this will be the first tool you use.

The card is used by simply inserting it into an empty PCI slot. One of the most useful functions of the card is the ability to display the Power-On Self-Test Codes. These codes are useful in identifying the error message reported by the motherboard when there is a problem. Since hardware problems can cripple the computer and not allow it to boot properly, knowing the codes allows you to diagnose the problem without having to boot the computer in DOS or windows.

Additionally the Status of Major Bus Signals are displayed which help diagnose faulty motherboards.

For more TriniTech Products see our listing or the TriniTech web site.

"Computer repair technicians can now breathe a sigh of relief when they're faced with seemingly unsolvable problems...The OmniPOST Analyzer Kit should prove to be an undeniable aid to IS departments and repair services."

Comments: I want to thank your sales rep for being consistent. My PC Sentry Plus card is a gift from the 'PC Guru Master.' I recently purchased 12 'supposedly' dead computers from a company just to get them off their hands and put the card to work. I was able to resurrect 11 of the 12 (using #12 for spare parts) and resold them for hundreds of dollars over what I paid for them AND the PC Senrty Plus. Since I do some of my service calls by motorcycle I have also included the card in my diagnostic bag and do not have to carry a bunch of spare parts to try the process of elimination game. Thank you for a fine product. Patriot PC Solutions -- Fountain Valley, CA
